The International Schools Kinder Haus and Kinder College were founded in Bologna in 1969 by Dolores Amadei Giraldi, who was for many years the Principal of an international college in Switzerland. Mrs Giraldi is the author of 5 award-winning handbooks about teaching young children, which are used by our teaching staff and which have received nationwide recognition among teachers. Both schools are run by her daughter Prof. Federica Marianti.
The schools are situated in beautiful natural surroundings amid the low hills, a short distance from the city-center, making them an ideal setting for teaching young children: a silent and green oasis that encourages student involvement.
The school's philosophy is exemplified by its International Programme, which integrates the best teaching methodologies of the world in an English-speaking environment.
It develops the imaginative mind, fosters creative, experimental learning, and encourages hands-on discovery: here academics and creativity meet.
Both schools have received an award from the Burckhardt International Academy for Cultural Unity.
Students from Around the World
Meeting students from different parts of the world has always played a key role in the schools’ mission, and we accept also good teachers from other countries.
The close contact with foreign teachers and learners helps to widen the schoolchildren’s horizons and makes them more aware of cultures and traditions different from their own, becoming global thinkers.
Always led by English mother-tongue teachers, students at our schools can therefore study and take part in activities with children from other nationalities.
Throughout the years we have had students from at least 27 different countries such as:
The United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Great Britain, Ireland, France, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, China, Taiwan and Japan.
A few years ago, Emilia-Romagna Regional Council embarked on a promotion of its cultural activities in California.
A group of 15 students from our school was sent to S. Francisco to represent "Youth Culture".
The Californian press wrote that our students had successfully performed Rossini’s "The Barber of Seville" at various Californian theatre venues.
Many top executives of well-known firms and multinational companies have chosen to send their children to us.
